Install and connect

Time: 10 minutes, plus the catalog sync that runs in the background.

1. Install the plugin

  1. In the WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for Dermaself AI Beauty Agent.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Or download the zip from WordPress.org and upload it from Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.

After activation the Dermaself menu appears. The screens start empty: nothing works until the store is connected.

2. Create your Dermaself account

  1. Go to dermaself.it/signup and sign up. The account is free.
  2. Copy the activation key you are given. It starts with dsk_.

The same link is in Dermaself → Connection (“Create a free Dermaself account”).

3. Connect the store — Connection

  1. Open Dermaself → Connection.
  2. Paste the key into the Activation key field.
  3. Click Connect.

If all is well you see “Connected. Your skin test is ready to configure.” The screen then shows Account and Plan.

No data leaves the site before this step.

If the key is not accepted

  • “That does not look like a Dermaself activation key”: the key starts with dsk_. Copy all of it again.
  • “Dermaself did not recognise that key”: it may have been replaced by a newer one. Generate a fresh key from your account.
  • “Could not reach Dermaself to check the key”: your site blocks outgoing connections. Allow them (or ask your host) and try again.
  • “This site is configured in wp-config.php”: the key is set on the server and cannot be changed here. Edit the constants in wp-config.php.

Disconnecting

Disconnect in Connection detaches the store: the Skin Test stops working until you connect it again. Your data on Dermaself is kept.

4. Check the Dashboard

At the bottom of Dermaself → Dashboard there are two checks:

  • Store connection — the store is connected and the key was accepted.
  • Dermaself service — the service is reachable.

If the service is up but does not accept the key, the Dermaself screens stay empty: paste the key again in Connection.

  1. Product Sync — send the catalog.
  2. Categories — check the categories the AI assigned.
  3. Customization — colors, logo, button.
  4. Quiz Builder and Routine Builder — optional, the defaults work.
  5. Publish — choose where the button appears. Until you turn something on, nothing shows in the store.
  6. Take a test Skin Test in the store (not the admin) and check the Dashboard.

Optional: Discount, Integrations with Klaviyo or Mailchimp, Subscription if you need more analyses.

Quick checklist

  • Plugin installed and active
  • Key pasted in Connection, status Connected
  • Catalog synced, no jobs in Failed
  • Categories checked
  • Logo and colors saved in Customization
  • At least one placement on in Publish
  • One test Skin Test completed in the store
