Shopper experience
The Skin Test opens as an overlay on your store, not on an external Dermaself page. Shoppers open it from the floating Skin Test button, a Skin Test button inside a page, or a #dermaself-quiz menu link. See Add the Skin Test to your theme.
Flow, step by step
- Consent — the shopper accepts the processing of their data to start.
- Quiz — the questions set in Skin Test Setup. If you turned on the contact step, the shopper also leaves name, email and marketing consent.
- Selfie — camera or photo upload. Glasses off, hair back, even light.
- Results — the skin analysis, with the detected skin conditions.
- Your routine — products from your mapped catalog, organized by routine and step, with alternatives.
- Add to cart — one product at a time, or Add full routine to cart.
- Checkout — if the recommended discount is on, it is applied automatically to the recommended products.
If you set up Klaviyo or Mailchimp and the shopper gave marketing consent, they also get the recap email (Integrations). The PDF report is available on every plan.
What the Skin Test uses
- The selfie: the AI skin analysis is based on the photo.
- The quiz answers: they personalize the routine.
- The composition (INCI) of your mapped products: it decides which products fit that skin.
Shoppers do not scan any product label and do not create an account. This is not a medical diagnosis.
Attribution
Cart lines added from the recommendations carry the _recommended_by_dermaself line property. The app uses it to attribute orders and revenue in Analytics, and the recommended discount applies only to those lines.
When the Skin Test is unavailable
If the Skin Test is unpublished, the Free plan used its analyses for the month, or the plan is not active, shoppers see an “unavailable” panel instead of the quiz. See Plans and usage.
Branding
“Powered by Dermaself” appears on every plan except Enterprise (white label). See Plans and usage.
