Categories

Open Dermaself → Categories. The category decides which step of the routine a product can be recommended for: cleanser, serum, sunscreen, and so on.

How Dermaself assigns it

During the sync an AI model reads the product name and its ingredients (INCI, when the product has them) and picks the closest of the available categories.

Example categories: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Eye contour, Moisturiser, Sunscreen (SPF), Night cream, Face mask/scrub, Lip balm, Makeup remover, Primer, Foundation, Concealer, Powder.

The clearer the name and the more complete the INCI, the fewer corrections you need.

Correcting a category

  1. Open Categories. Each row shows the product and the category Assigned automatically.
  2. Where the AI got it wrong, pick the right one in the Category menu.
  3. Click Save categories.

Your choice replaces the automatic one and is kept through later syncs. Only the products you change are sent back for reprocessing: the row shows Waiting to be reprocessed until it is done.

To go back to the automatic choice, select — leave it to Dermaself — and save.

A product marked not synced yet has not gone through the queue: wait for the sync to finish.

You can also force the category from the product editor, in the Category / module override field of the Dermaself box.

If the list does not load

“The list of categories could not be loaded” usually means the Dermaself service is unreachable. Try again in a moment.
