Where do I start?
With Install and connect: install the plugin, create the account, paste the key, and follow the recommended order.
Do I need a Dermaself account?
Yes, as a merchant: it is free, you create it at dermaself.it/signup, and it gives you the key to paste in Connection. Your shoppers do not create any login.
Does it work without WooCommerce?
The quiz opens, but recommendations and add-to-cart need WooCommerce (9.0 or newer), since they are built from your products.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. The Free plan includes 25 analyses a month and up to 100 products; then the quiz pauses until the next month. Every screen and every feature is available on every plan: a paid plan adds volume and keeps the quiz from ever pausing. See Plans and usage.
Can I remove the Dermaself branding?
Yes, on the Growth plan.
What data leaves my site?
Nothing is sent until you connect the plugin with a key. After that:
- Dermaself service (
api.dermaself.it) — your quiz configuration, product catalog, quiz sessions and their answers, the skin analysis, cart snapshots, and orders containing recommended products. Requests are signed with your store’s key. - Quiz app (
embed.dermaself.it) — the quiz itself, loaded in an iframe in your store. It receives your shop identifier, the shopper’s answers, and — if the shopper takes one — their photo. - OpenAI — the product descriptions and ingredient lists you sync, sent by the Dermaself service to classify each product. Shopper data is not.
- Klaviyo / Mailchimp — only if you connect them: email and first name of shoppers who give explicit marketing consent.
- Stripe — only if you buy a paid plan. The plugin sends you to Stripe’s hosted checkout and never sees card details.

Where are shopper photos stored?
Nowhere. They are analyzed and discarded: not stored on your site and not kept after the analysis.
What happens if I deactivate or uninstall the plugin?
- Deactivating turns the plugin and the button off, but keeps your settings.
- Uninstalling (Delete on the Plugins page) removes everything the plugin stored in your site, including the key.
- Either way, data held in your Dermaself account is not affected. To have it deleted, do so from your Dermaself account or write to support@dermaself.it.
And if I disconnect the store?
Disconnect in Connection stops the Skin Test until you connect again. Your data on Dermaself is kept.
Are there integrations with Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Zapier?
No. The integrations are Klaviyo and Mailchimp.
Is the Skin Test a medical diagnosis?
No.
